WATCH: Nicola Sturgeon and Janey Godley team up for STV Children’s Appeal sketch

JANEY Godley teamed up with Scotland’s First Minister to record a comedy sketch for the STV Children’s Appeal.

The comedian’s voice-overs of Nicola Sturgeon’s daily briefings have been hugely popular on social media this year, bringing in hundreds of thousands of views.

The pair worked together to produce a one-off skit to raise cash for charity, in which the First Minister appears to address the nation and call for support for the Children’s Appeal.

But of course Godley is the one speaking as “Nicola” tells people: “At the end of the day, we’re trying to make some money for the weans – the wee yins need a wee haun oot.

“So if you’ve got a bit of spare cash – maybe Big Jeanette’s tanned the Pippa Dee and Stevie’s managed tae scam aff the menage – just get the money in tae the STV Children’s Appeal.”

The sketch, which was recorded last month, finishes with the famous “Frank, get the door!” catchphrase – but there’s a twist this time.

The clip aired as part of STV’s Children’s Appeal last night. The appeal raises cash for vulnerable children and young people across Scotland.

As well as featuring music from Biffy Clyro and stories from “community heroes” across Scotland, the programme showed a series of films exploring the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on mental health, food and fuel poverty.
