Mahindra introduces ‘Own-Online’ digital sales platform

  • Website offers end-to-end buying solutions.
  • On-road prices, including breakdown of registration, road taxes and insurance.
  • Doorstep service option also rolled out.

Mahindra has launched ‘Own-Online’, a digital sales platform that enables customers to purchase any of its vehicles without the need for physically visiting a dealership. Through the Own-Online platform, buyers can finance, insure, exchange, accessorise and then own a Mahindra vehicle having completed the entire process online.

Own-Online gives customers access to Mahindra’s pan-India network of 270+ dealers and 900+ touchpoints, all of which have been integrated with the platform. In order to buy a Mahindra car via this platform, buyers will have to visit the Own-Online website.

Once on the website, buyers will have to go through four steps to buy the car of their choice. The first step is to select the Mahindra model they wish to purchase and personalise it as per their taste. Following this, they will have to choose their dealer (and get a quotation for their older car in case of an exchange). Step 3 involves choosing finance and insurance options and getting online approval for the same. The fourth and final step is to make an online payment and then choose a preferred location for ‘contactless’ delivery of the vehicle.

In case customers have any doubts or need any assistance to complete the Own-Online process, Mahindra’s product and process experts will be available online via video chat and text messages.

Mahindra claims that Own-Online is the only mass-market digital sales platform that gives customers on-road prices of the cars, including the breakdown of all the components – such as registration, road taxes and insurance, as well as benefits like discounts and offers.

Speaking about the launch of the service, Veejay Nakra, CEO – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “I don’t see this as a nice to have, but it’s a must-have today. In smaller cities and for now, in green zones perhaps people will still go to showrooms but, in the red zones and metros, I’m sure a lot of people will prefer buying a car completely online.”

The manufacturer has also rolled out a doorstep service option for customers. Mahindra will send over trained mechanics to the customer’s address and carry out a full basic service. However, for more complex jobs, the vehicle will have to visit a Mahindra service centre.

The launch of Mahindra’s digital sales platform comes after manufacturers like Hyundai, Tata, Honda and Volkswagen all introduced their respective online sales platforms. The ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has prompted manufacturers to launch online services to keep the sales number ticking during these times of restricted movement in India.
